4. Matters Arising. There were no matters arising.

5. Treasurers Report.

Copy attached to these Minutes.

The report did not include a value for stock in hand. This was valued at £1200.00 (at retail), it was proposed that the value be stated as cost - Proposed: Paul Sysum Seconded: Wendy Goodchild. Accepted.

6. Officers Reports.

Regional Report - There was no regional report. Eddie thought that it would be good for members (other than Committee) to go to NC meetings. Members are entitled to see and understand how they work. General Discussion.

If Anne takes over as NC Rep. then it would be good for members to go in turn with her to NC meetings.

Transport Co-ordinator (Geoff Mills, willing to re-stand) - The role is to provide co-ordination across the region with respect to transport and local transport plans. Local transport plans tend to include the word 'motorcycle'. Geoff does not have the Cheltenham Local Plan - Derwen Hinds will email him a copy. North Somerset are very active with the council transport officials. Weston-Super-Mare have reversed parking policy towards motorcycles, there is now designated parking adjacent to the Tourist Information centre, the Council allocated a large sum for special signs, dropped curbs etc.

Products (Brian Weeks, willing to re-stand) - A good year, Eddie's Toxic Logo products sold well. In order to have the Logo adopted nationally, this needs to be raised as a general item at a NC meeting.

Events Co-ordinator (Bill Pugsley, willing to re-stand) - Bill needs information on all events to do the job.

Regional Administrator (Donna Proctor, willing to re-stand) - The job seemed easy this year, partly due to the absence of a Regional Rep. A few mistakes were made alone the way. Thanks are due to Fe (for help getting the first notes down), Anne (for direction) and Paul (for putting up with me & support). The Region as a whole, do a considerable amount of work, 23 different things at a quick count, we are all part of this and we should be very proud of ourselves. I will do the job again but I do feel someone with direct access to a computer and the necessary skills would be better.

MP Liaison (Wendy Goodchild, willing to re-stand as MP & MEP liaison) - Not a lot going on this year, 2001 will be much busier because of Local and General Elections.

8. AGC 2001.

Background: Last year the region put up a proposal and business case for AGC-2001 to be held at WSM. Full facilities included at a cheaper cost than normal. Also proposed was to include a party weekend to encourage greater numbers and the potential of raising income. A lot of work went into this proposal to ensure it's viability. The NC appeared to have decided that the changed date of 2000 be retained due to the National Treasurer being unable to prepare and distribute her report for the financial year.

The following proposal was tabled: "The Western Region questions the decision of the N.C. to move the date of the 2001 AGC to the end of October from the traditional date in September. The Region considers this to be in breach of the spirit and probably the letter of the National Constitution. We ask the N.C. to reconsider the matter at its next meeting. If the primary reason for moving the date is to allow more time to finalise the accounts, then the solution should be to move the financial year."

Proposed: Geoff Mills, Seconded: Ian Moore, Carried.

It was decided that the proposal be communicated to Nich Brown by Geoff Mills and a letter be sent in confirmation

stressing the large majority for the proposal and requesting the raising of the proposal as an item at the next N.C. meeting.

9. Duk Dik Rally - The Regional Rally.

Now the site has moved out of Gloucestershire after many years, the original organisers are unable to do as much as in previous years. It is necessary for more people in the region to get involved so that the region can run it in subsequent years. Glos. MAG are not deserting the rally but are unable to stand the addition travelling costs for them to the amount of work they did in the past. Reps. are to go back to their groups to get support in setting it up. Getting and transporting firewood for the bonfire and furniture are the immediate problem.

10a. Bikers are Voters (1st March), Mass Parliamentary Lobby, London. Geoff Mills is organising a coach to London (due to lack of parking adjacent to Parliament), various pick-up points along the way, travel will be regionally funded. All members are encouraged to contact their MP's to inform them of the lobbying and their visiting the Parliament.

Contact Geoff Mills

Any Other Business.

Wrag MAG - Cath Waymouth (editor) suggest that there should be 3 issues a year - Spring, Summer and Autumn, dropping the previous Winter issue due to lack of material (at this time of year). Each issue of 200 copies cost £80 for 16 pages. Distribution was discussed and the Regional meeting was the best way to get copies to the Local Groups. Additional copies could be given to local affiliated clubs and MAG friendly dealers. All members should be encouraged to send in more items such as stories, quizzes, letters, questions, photo's or anything to keep it going.

Meeting closed at 5 minutes past 4.
