2006 Soup Run

Bristol MAG ride to the Julian Trust The Not So-So Soup Run was a great success; despite it’s clashing with Hoggin’ the Bridge and the Weston Beach Races. Even so, we had a fair turn out in threatening weather of about 30 bikes that met up at the Burrington Inn for the 11.15 start. We headed off to Churchill and back up the A38 past Bristol Airport and then left onto the B3130 past Barrow Gurney to the A370 and so into Bristol via the Cumberland Basin, through the Centre to St. Paul’s and the Julian Trust.
There we handed over our contributions of food and money in exchange for a cup of tea and a warm welcome from the staff.
I’d never been there before and looking round I thought how happy must be the people who sleep there rather than out on the cold, wet and probably dangerous streets.
Bristol MAG would like to say a special thanks to Weston and North Somerset MAG who sent a generous contribution to the kitty. Usually many members of W/&NS MAG would turn out to support the Soup Run, but owing to the clash of dates they were busy at marshalling at the Enduro, so a special thank you to them.
As well as all the food, blankets and other goodies that people donated we were able to hand over about £170 in cash.
Thank you to all who could make it for the run. Spider

Party with a purpose

Krissie has had the stem cell treatment and already is beginning to see significant improvement in her condition. But this treatment comes at a huge financial cost, so to help cover this expense a party has been arranged at Rockers in Taunton on the 18th November 2006 at a miserly £3 a head, doors open at 7pm and the bands start at about 9pm.
Rockers can be found at; 60 Bridge Street, Taunton
Of course if you can’t make the party you can still make a donation by buying a virtual ticket locally, or make a donation all the details are in The Road or at: http://western-region.mag-uk.org

Trollitorial

Well as you can see its AGM time, and it is vitally important that you all should exercise your right as members to go along to your local, or regional AGM’s and vote. Apathy will kill motorcycling, so we need to keep the pressure on the politicians, and we can only do this with the membership supporting their elected officials.
If you feel you have a talent that would be of benefit to your group or region please come forward, new blood and new ideas are always welcome.

Enduro

Despite the weather forecast foretelling of gales and driving rain, the hardy soles of Weston /& North Somerset MAG gathered on the Beach lawns to marshal at the Secure Bike Park set up by the Enduro organisers.
Even though this event clashed with Bristol MAG’s soup Run and the Hoggin the Bridge events, we were able to marshal this event comfortably, even if the rain did seep into uncomfortable places!
The Troll as usual ran the Helmet Park though he was squeezed into a rather confined space along with a lot of helmets.
Well done everyone from Weston MAG and Vicky from Glos MAG.
