Yuletide Felicitations

Well its December once again, where on earth has this year gone? The Troll would like to wish all his readers a happy Festive season and a really great New Year.

Club Affiliation

MIB (Members of Island Biker Ride Out Club) have affiliated to MAG. Welcome to the fold MIB. "This is a fairly new club with a small but growing membership. We are all keen on promoting biking as a fun and social activity, and are aware of the successes over the years of the Western Region MAG - in particular the opening up of bus lanes in Bristol and your work in promoting bike friendly manhole covers. As such we are proud to be affiliated to MAG.

You will see that we are partly sponsored by Island Biker Ltd., who are a Bristol based company offering their own high quality branded clothing and accessories at realistic prices. MAG members will be pleased to learn that Island Biker offer 10% discount on production of their card.

Mid Wilts MAG will be the host group at their venue The Lysley Arms, London Road (A4), Pewsham, Chippenham, Wiltshire. SN15 3RU. 12 NOON FOR 12.30 start.

Please bring your current membership card so you can vote. There will be a Light lunch and refreshments. The guest Speaker is to be David Short, MAG Campaign's Manager.

Bristol MAG Quiz Night

November 22nd Bristol MAG held an ‘inter-group’ Quiz Night with Weston & North Somerset and to which they invited other local clubs.

It was an amazing turn out on all sides and a great way to get the Groups mixing with a brilliant atmosphere and thanks goes to Claire and Sian for their hard work in setting this up. Also, it was a brilliant idea to invite along the local clubs with White Liners, Sisterhood, Petrol Heads, to name but a few, being represented.

Both Weston & North Somerset and Bristol Groups were well represented with Bristol teams hoping for either Bedwyr or Eddie to join their team. We bow to their superior knowledge!

In the end it was Bedwyr’s team which ruled triumphant, however, I’m proud to have been in Team Hugo, along with Andy, Clare, Jules & Hugo our canine mascot, as we held the rest of the teams up from the bottom. Brilliant.

Somerset Motorcycle Safety Forum

This forum has been set up by the Somerset Road Safety Officer (Motorcycles) who himself rides a bike, in response to the spate of PTW RTI’s in Somerset over recent months.

The inaugural meeting was held at Bridgwater Fire Station, and was attended by several Motorcycle Training groups (Advanced and Learner) and of course MAG. The Troll was astounded to hear one delegate claim manhole covers were not an issue!

The next meeting will take place in January.

Mid Wilts Pet Food Run & Party

Mid Wilts MAG will be holding their Pet food run on Saturday 1st December, meeting at 12 noon for a prompt 12:30 start, from the Lysley Arms, Chippenham.

The run will be heading to the Bath Dogs and Cats Home.

In the evening again at the Lysley Arms, there will be a party with live music (Severance and Pistol Kixx) from 8pm til 12. Entry £5.

Glos MAG Pet Food Run

Sunshine and relatively warm temperatures (for November) saw more than twenty bikes meeting at the England's Glory for the Glos MAG Pet Food run.

After the customary delays (people going to the wrong venue, etc) we headed off towards Teckels Animal Sanctuary at Whitminster. On arrival we were greeted by the Teckels staff with cups of tea and biscuits.

As well as the food, toys and bedding donated, a cheque for £800 was presented to Teckels - this was from a collection in memory of Donna at the last Duk Dik rally. Donna was a keen supporter of Teckels, and one of the kennels is being named for her in recognition of this.
